Bee had five puppies May 27, 2025. Bee is a wonderful mother and the pups are all doing great. It looks like she had 2 smooth puppies- a tricolor girl, and a pure for sable girl. She also had three rough sable puppies- two girls and a boy.

Bee and the puppies are in a whelping box in my bedroom – so I am very sleep deprived. I will post more pictures when I have a few minutes and a clear head.

Here is the pedigree of the Bee/ Kaboom pups. It is not a tight pedigree, but contains a lot of outstanding collies, and doubles up on two of my favorites.

The Bee/ Kaboom puppies are over a week old now and doing so well. Bee has been a perfect mom- attentive and loving, but calm. It is so nice to have a litter where the dam has plenty of nipples and milk for all the puppies to nurse at once. Five puppies is a more manageable size for me and Bee to look after than litters of eight or ten or more!

My daughter Caitlin wanted to name these puppies with superhero names, and since they are so robust that’s what we did. These are just their call names we use to keep them straight. It’s easy to tell them apart as they each have distinctive markings.

The pictures are my cell phone photos- which aren’t very good, but they are just over a week old here. The babies should be opening their eyes by next weekend. They will get more photogenic as each week passes. They are all so sweet.

The big rough boy is Remy after the X- Men Gambit character. He gets what he wants and doesn’t have a worry in the world.

Next is little Ripley. She is a tri smooth girl named after the brave heroine Ripley from the Alien movies. She is the smallest in the litter, but not that small. She gets all she wants to eat and is doing great.

The other smooth girl is Beatrix. Beatrix is a white factored pure for sable girl. She was named after the unbeatable Beatrix in Kill Bill, although our little Beatrix is as sweet as sugar.

The biggest girl is Kara who was named after Supergirl! She was born first and came out ready to eat! She is a rough sable and white girl. Kara gives the big boy Remy a run for his money.

The last one born, but definitely not least is the rough sable girl- Echo. Echo is a complicated heroine from the Marvel universe. Echo is a fitting name because this baby looks so much like Bee’s mother Willa. Echo has stolen my heart and already looks like a baby show girl.

I love Bee and her puppies. I look forward to watching them progress though each stage of development. Soon they will open their eyes and get up on their feet to toddle around. It is a privilege to interact with these precious furballs. I wish I could do this forever.
